*Note: Futures PnL is a mark to market estimate

Last week was pretty good- I marked in 6 units on my futures. My long positions on Minnesota, Toledo, Nebraska and Wisconsin had a good week. So did my short positions on Washington, Michigan and Western Kentucky.

I had a frustrating loss in my weekly picks- I had two units on UConn ML +235 and they fell in overtime. Syracuse converted a 4th and 17 in overtime to win the game. UConn also missed an extra point in the second half that could’ve won the game in regulation.

Arizona @ West Virginia (Saturday, 11 AM Central)

Arizona was talked about as a preseason sleeper in the Big 12. Those talks cooled after an early loss to BYU. However, I think the correct interpretation of events is that BYU is a tier 1 Big 12 contender, and Arizona is at the top of tier 2- they’ve demolished everyone else they’ve played. They’re up to 27th in my ratings and are actually 19th in SP+. West Virginia’s offense has been a fun story this year, but they’re not nearly as talented and their defense is bad. Arizona should roll here.

Arizona -2.5 -110 (2 units)

New Mexico State @ FIU (Wednesday, 6 PM Central)

If you’ve been reading this website all season, you know that I am very bought in on FIU. This is their first conference game, and I think we’ll see how much more talented they are than the league’s have-nots like NMSU. QB JJ Kohl has been quite good to start the season and I think FIU rolls here.

FIU -4.5 -110 (1 unit)

Central Michigan @ Ohio (Wednesday, 2:30 PM Central)

This is another game where I’m going with my mantra of “more talented team against less talented team”. Ohio spends near the top of the MAC. CMU doesn’t. I like CMU- they run a fun offensive scheme- but Ohio gave a good Nebraska team a scare and is in a different weight class.

Ohio -3.5 -110 (1 unit)

North Dakota State @ UNLV (Saturday, 6 PM Central)

I like buying the wing call on teams where their upsides are still undiscovered. We don’t know how good North Dakota State is- no one they’ve played has been a challenge for them yet- they stomped Wyoming last week. They’re probably the 50th or so best team in the country, but there’s a possibility they’re much better- we don’t know yet. UNLV also has a shaky defense and can allow points in bunches. That makes the alt line an attractive play for me here.

North Dakota State -19.5 +560 (1 unit)
