College Football Futures Bets and Rooting Guide- Week 2 2026
Weeks 0 and 1 have gone alright for my futures. Some of the highlights so far are my Sacramento State under (Sac State looks awful), Western Kentucky under (they got destroyed as a road favorite) and my Michigan under (they should've lost to WMU). The lowlights mostly came from the Clemson/LSU game, as I was long Clemson and short LSU, which now looks like a disaster.
Each week this season, I'll post a few new futures bets, and also provide an update on what you should be rooting for this week if you've been betting my futures all season.
New Bets
North Dakota State to win the Mountain West +310 (1 unit)
North Dakota State was really impressive in week 0 against Jacksonville State- they won 33-7 as a 6.5 point favorite. My model now has them second in the G6 behind only Boise State. NDSU has been quick to adjust to live in FBS but I don't think the market has been as quick to adjust to how good they are.
Toledo to win the MAC +440 (1 unit)
Toledo should've beaten Michigan State in week 1- they had nearly 2 yards/play more than the Spartans. This line went from +400 to +440 after week 1 and I don't think that reflects how good the Rockets looked- they're my model's best MAC team now, just a hair ahead of Western Michigan.
FIU to win CUSA +850 (1 unit)
I already liked FIU- I bet them to win CUSA at +1100 in the preseason- but I really liked what I saw in week 1. They went on the road and outplayed South Florida, but lost the turnover battle 4-0 and lost the game. That was a non-conference game so it doesn't affect their chances of winning the league, and it made me more confident in Willie Simmons' team. This line should've moved more.
Virginia to win the ACC +1700 (1 unit)
This is another line in the "should've moved more" camp. Virginia dominated NC State in week 0 and is now 28th in my model- third in the ACC behind Miami and SMU. They also have an easy conference schedule (no Miami, and games again Wake Forest, Syracuse, Cal, Duke etc.). The week 0 performance was so encouraging that I think the ceiling on this team is even higher than last year's squad that nearly made the playoff.
Rooting Guide
Iowa State @ Iowa -13.5
We have Iowa State ML +440 and Iowa State +12.5 in this game from the preseason, and have other bets on Iowa State as well.
South Florida @ Army -3.5
We are long South Florida to win the American and short Army. The South Florida longs are off to a bad start after a very lucky win in week 1. These teams are both projected near the top of the American.
Ohio State @ Texas -1.5
Our Texas to miss the Playoff +150 ticket largely hinges on this game. Whoever wins this one is looking very, very good for the playoff and whoever loses is in some amount of danger.
North Dakota State -2.5 @ Air Force
Our North Dakota State over 10.5 wins ticket is off to a great start. This is one of their toughest games of the season and they'll be the clear Mountain West favorites with a win here.
Navy -5.5 @ Florida Atlantic
Florida Atlantic is one of the main teams we're rooting for this year. We didn't learn much about them when they predictably got blown out by Florida in week 1, our 35/1 ticket to win the American is pretty dead if they lose this.
Montana State -3.5 @ Nevada
We're long Nevada and they're off to a strong start after a blowout win over WKU in week 1. They're a small home dog to the defending FCS national champions.
Oklahoma -5.5 @ Michigan
Our Michigan under 6.5 wins +400 ticket already looks decent and will look even better if they lose here.
App State @ East Carolina -7.5
We have some unders on App State and need them to be losing games like this for those to cash.
Sacramento State @ Fresno State -18.5
Our Sacramento State unders are our best bet of the season so far. We want them to keep losing, and they're a big underdog here.
