Last week was a bit of a mess. East Carolina blew a huge lead to lose to UAB. Michigan allowed a meaningless TD with 20 seconds left to allow a backdoor cover. Here’s to a better week this week.
West Virginia @ TCU (Saturday, 11 AM Central)
West Virginia can be summarized in one stat- they’ve both won a game and lost a game 45-42 this season. They can’t play a lick of defense and also can’t come back once they’re down a lot, as they’re a run-first team. TCU has been much improved in recent weeks and they’re way more talented- they should roll here.
TCU -6.5 -124 (2 units)
Oklahoma @ Mississippi State (Saturday, 2:30 PM Central)
Oklahoma’s playoff hopes are over after their loss to Kentucky, which was (stop me if you’ve heard this one before) derailed due to two late John Mateer interceptions. Oklahoma has committed nearly twice as many turnovers as their underlying stats would suggest and are much better than their record. The wheels have fallen off Mississippi State, and I like this line even if Kamario Taylor plays.
Oklahoma -2.5 -118 (1 unit)
UMass @ UConn (Friday, 6 PM Central)
UMass has had back to back heartbreaking losses to Miami (OH) and Buffalo, and has slipped from 4-0 to 4-3. That’s largely due to the fact that they’re down to QB3. I like the moneyline here as there’s a chance starting QB Pop Watson is back (he’s quite good) and even if he’s not, UConn has been inconsistent. +550 is just too big for two teams whose talent levels are not that different.
UMass ML +550 (0.5 units)
